Question: How can you help someone with a cocaine addiction get better?

You should do some reasearch in the internet, and not depending on yahoo answers, although it will be a piece of helpful information. But, go for the direct advice from experts. I would do that, if I really wanted to help.

Make that person seek professional help. They have to be willing to want to get better. The only thing you can do is encourage your friend to get into rehab.

I hate that drug, I really do. I wish I had an answer for you. It stole from me the one person I loved most in life.... The addict has to want to recover from his addiction, more than anything. You can't recover for him, and most likely he will resent you if you try to break his denial. Usually an addict will stop using, when the last thing he lost as a result of his using was something he was not willing to lose, and the next thing will be his life.

Very true. I only quit after one of my friends OD'd, and watched his other "friends " in the house deal with the problem by shutting him up in his car. He probably would have died if I hadn't called the ambulance, and as it is he ended up suffering a stroke and a heart attack. Even knowing all this when I was using, I probably wouldn't have quit unless I had seen it with my own eyes. Telling a cokehead to stop using is like telling a person with the world's worst diarrhea not to shit. No one who hasn't used will never understand.
