Don't listen to these other folks. There is no cross-tolerance between Suboxone and Crystal Meth, however there is a moderate interaction. In laymen's terms the interaction would result in a psuedo-speedball (you are mixing an upper and downer, as some would say). Suboxone contains a partial opioid agonist used in the treatment of opiate withdrawal and addiction. It also contains an antagonist that (arguably) prevents it from being shot up like other opiates. Some have had great success with using Suboxone to kick opiate habits. It can be misused, but will not present the full effects one would get with other (full agnoist) opiates. That makes it less abused than full opiate agonists like OxyContin (Oxycodone), Vicodin (Hydrocodone), Dilaudid (Hydromorphone), MS Contin (Time-released morphine), etc. Crystal meth contains a drug (methamphetamine) from the amphetamine class of drugs. It has a totally different method of action than Suboxone. In street form you should worry about the purity of the drug you are using. There have been fatalities as a result of users being given tainted or poorly made street meth. What many don't know is that methamphetamine does have some legitimate medical uses (which is why it is Schedule II under the United States Controlled Substances Act). For example, ADHD medication Adderall is composed of several different amphetamine salts, including dextroamphetamine (a close cousin to meth) salts. It also contains racemic amphetamine aspartate monohydrate, racemic amphetamine sulfate & dextroamphetamine saccharide. One ADHD drug, Desoxyn, contains methamphetamine itself. That said, it's not a smart idea to take meth if you're using Suboxone to try to stop abusing opiates. It goes against your mission of remaining free of drugs. Actually. It's not a smart idea in itself really. Addiction potential is high and while the fun may last for a while, it eventually ends. And many times it doesn't end well. The use of meth results in several thousands of deaths each year around the world. So, if you're going to use at least be aware of what the consequences can be. One danger worth noting is that the mixture of the two could put extra stress on your heart, which is not good. Meth (even the kind prescribed by doctors) itself would put some stress on your heart. This is especially something to be aware of if one is a repeated or daily user. I don't condone illegal drug use at all, but I do believe in harm reduction through TRUTHFUL information. Now to the main part of your question. What would the side effects be? Basically the same side effects that you would expect from both drugs being used individually. They include, for Suboxone: Chills; constipation; diarrhea; dizziness; drowsiness; flushing; headache; nausea; sleeplessness; stomach pain; sweating; vomiting; weakness. For Crystal Meth, they include: Suicidal thoughts, Confusion, Chest tightness, Chest pain or heart palpitations, Shortness of breath, More outgoing or aggressive behavior than normal, Strange behavior, Hallucinations (seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not really there), Agitation or restlessness, Uncontrolled movements of the head, neck, mouth, arms, or legs (known as tics) As always, be smart and be safe. And, if you can help yourself, don't do drugs at all or stop using. |
