Question: Is my brother using crystal methamphetamine?

As a Christian woman, I don't associate with illegal narcotics and I had assumed the same for my family, but unfortunately I believe my assumption has been made false. My immediate family lives in the same city as I do, I have a sister named Leslie May who is 39, and a brother named Phillip Ryan who is 34, and my name is Angie Gracie (my parents have a thing for middle names). Most of my family doesn't communicate with my brother Phillip because he stopped going to church about 6 years ago and has been arrested for a DUI and several family friends have spotted him on a street notoriously being a "place of business " I suppose for illegal prostitutes. (I hadn't seen Phillip in 5 and a half years) I decided I wanted to see my brother because my grandmother passed away about a month ago and realizing she was gone forever really got me thinking about my brother, he was still alive and I hadn't seen him in so long, he could die tomorrow and I would have never tried to make peace with him. So yesterday at about 4 pm I drove to his trailer (he lives in a small trailer park, I probably shouldn't have come unannounced but I thought he would see it as a pleasant surprise) I got out of my car and noticed his lawn was littered with trash, this was a bad sign but I tried not to judge and knocked on his door regardless. Phillip answered the door in a dirty white tank top and ripped jeans, he smelled awful and he was the thinnest I'd ever seen him. But his face lit up when he saw me and he enthusiastically invited me in, so I went in. When he smiled at me his teeth looked very yellow and poorly taken care of. This is where everything really went down hill. The living room of the trailer was filled with trash, there was a cardboard box in the middle of the room with a razor and this strange glass tube thing sitting on the box I'd never seen before, and there was a few empty vodka bottles randomly set on the floor. There was also a sickly looking blond woman who appeared to be in her thirties wearing simply a bra and nothing else, there were strange bruises on her arms and thighs. Phillip apparently saw my appalled face staring in shock at the literally half naked woman and he quickly put a blanket over her lower half, she didn't move. I suggested that I leave immediately, I didn't want to stay in my brother's house another second, it was too much to take in at once. He then stood in front of the door and began talking extremely fast, the first few sentences I didn't understand, and I asked him to slow down. He started yelling about why haven't I visited him in so long, and why do I think I'm better then him when I'm not. He told me he hoped my parents were dead and that my sister was a whore. He was picking at a huge scab on his arm as he yelled louder and louder. I told him he really needed to get help and that he was such an embarrassment, he kept screaming "why, because you're fat " to every statement I made in my defense. He then started to bark at me, and every time I uttered a word he would bark like a dog. He was still in front of the door, so I had no idea what he would do if I tried to get past him and get out. He continued to bark, then he began meowing like a cat and petting my hair, his eyes started rolling back in his head. All the noise he was making woke up the strange woman on the couch and she began screaming so loud as if she was being stabbed. She then rolled off the couch still half naked and picked up one of the vodka bottles and threw it at Phillip, it hit him in the stomach and he slumped over for a second then he ran over to her, she was still on the floor, and he kicked her in the face, and then in the stomach, and he wouldn't stop kicking her. I should have told him to stop, or have done something, but after being shocked from seeing my brother assault the strange woman when I saw the door was clear I ran out, got in my car and drove away. I called the police when I got home and I have no idea what will happen to my brother. Do you think he was using crystal methamphetamine? Can it really change someone so severely? I've never been one to believe in demonic possession but my heart tells me Phillips soul was lost long ago. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. |
