Heroin Addiction

Question: Do you know anyone who overcame heroin addiction?

How did they do it? How long did it take? How long have they been clean? I am not the addict and Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendricks overcame drug addiction by dying of it so that answer was not helpful. I really want to know some of your experiences with drug addicts.

Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, and Brad Nowell all beat heroin addiction, maybe you should research how they did it.

Plenty of people. Unfortunately they had to go to prison to detox. Find a good Methodone clinic and start their program to get off Heroin, they use a step down method and it works if u use it.

My dad (= With lots of rehabilitation, encouragement, and other things he quit. Once he started, he tried to quit. He finally did after around 25-30 years. He's been clean almost 10 years now. But recently he was diagnosed with hepatitis c.

Yes!!!! it's all up to each individual and how well sobriety is tolerated. Making a choice to stop using heroin is a life change meaning that removing yourself away from all the friends, old hang outs, and reasons you would use from your life is a huge help. Surround yourself with things and people that give you strength will be your ace in the whole. I have helped a friend go through this so it's second hand as far as the withdraw and strength it takes but I stood by her and she is still clean today!!!!!!!!!! Good luck you can do it!!!
