That you love and support them. That they are worth getting better for. That they will have a future without drug abuse. That they are worthy of being loved and good enough to be clean and sober.

Check in or you wont have the choice and you will check out. get help there are legal psych drugs that will get you up if you bacame an addict because of deppression or whatever the reason is you need to be high. find the reason and the cause to get help will follow. just keep in mind you cant be a better best friend than his drug. and if hes not ready than it cant happen either, he will have to hit rock botttom without you. but always be there when he does tke the first move. so i dont have any encouraging words the only thing that pulled me out was nothing left but to check in to the psych ward and all the help was put right there in front of me. food shelter docs meds other head cases to relate to. i guess i would say i was told by my sister that she will always be there for me no matter what.

They should really be enrolled in a program. It's extremely difficult to quit meth without going to rehab. They should go to NA and AA meetings, even though you didn't say they were an alcoholic. The concept is the same and they will learn about the twelve steps. Give that person all of your support and tell them all the time how much you love them and how proud you are and you know it's the hardest thing they have ever done. You should make sure they are reading the blue book and going to meetings. You can go with them to meetings too for extra encouagement. My sis was addicted to meth for years and she was in rehab for 3 years. That's about how long it took to completely shake the addiction and live a healthy lifestyle. She has been sober for 3 years now and still attends meetings regularly. I can't stress how important this is to staying clean!
