They should really be enrolled in a program. It's extremely difficult to quit meth without going to rehab. They should go to NA and AA meetings, even though you didn't say they were an alcoholic. The concept is the same and they will learn about the twelve steps. Give that person all of your support and tell them all the time how much you love them and how proud you are and you know it's the hardest thing they have ever done. You should make sure they are reading the blue book and going to meetings. You can go with them to meetings too for extra encouagement. My sis was addicted to meth for years and she was in rehab for 3 years. That's about how long it took to completely shake the addiction and live a healthy lifestyle. She has been sober for 3 years now and still attends meetings regularly. I can't stress how important this is to staying clean! |
