Just wondering if anyone has been through this and if you have any tips to help. We can't afford for him to go to rehab. He has been clean for 4 days and has used for almost a year. I'm worried he will go back to using. |

I hate to tell you bad news but meth is one of the most addictive drugs out there. It will be near impossible to stay clean for good without at least out patient rehab/ counseling. If you contact your local government they have programs for rehabilitation which are free depending on your income. Call CSAT (Center for Substance Abuse Treatment) at 1-800-662-4357 or go to findtreatment.samhsa.gov |

It's hard without professional help. he needs to find out what his "trigger " is for why he uses. there's usually an underlying cause other than how the drug makes someone feel physically. many people either have to hit rock bottom or go through multiple relapses before getting clean. the first answer gave some good advise for resources. |

The good news: it seems like your boyfriend has the most important thing it takes to quit a drug: the desire to quit. that is the single most important aspect when it comes to quitting. it is possible to quit without rehab, in fact, rehab can be largely ineffective if an individual has no desire to quit. now, just how strong is his desire? he is going to need a hell of a lot of support from you and others that love him. he is going to have to stay away from the people and places he used with. that's hard, but a necessity. his desire has to be strong enough to carry him through the physical and mental withdraws he is going to face. Also, chances are, he is going to use again. will he be able to catch himself and stop? help him remember his motivations to quit, first and foremost, he has to be doing this for himself. good luck, 4 days off of meth is a real accomplishment! one day at a time. |

Help him find a Christian 12-step addiction recovery group. Ask a Baptist church where there is one near you. God can help you live a better life if you want Him to help you. You can have a personal relationship with God by saying the prayer below. God is our Creator, all-knowing, all-powerful, eternal, holy, love. God loves us and sent us His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can go to heaven if we know and follow Him. Forever means without end -- time on and on without death. Forever is what happens after we die. Either we go to heaven and be with God forever, or we go to hell which is very bad and painful forever. The good people who are saved believers in Jesus Christ go to heaven. The bad people go to hell. We need to know and follow God in this world to get to heaven in the next world. We follow God by loving and obeying Him and loving others for Him. Jesus Christ, God's Son, is our bridge to God. Jesus died on the cross to cancel our sins. We need to accept Jesus into our life as our Lord and Savior forever to receive God's blessing and forgiveness plus go to heaven to be with God forever after we die. This is about being a born-again Christian. Faith in God is a gift from God. You can pray for faith in God. Just speak out and ask God for the faith to believe in Him and to follow Him. Some people find faith in God when they realize the beauty in the world is made by God. Evolution can't explain the world's natural beauty, for example, the parks in the world, animals, flowers, peacocks, sunsets, butterflies, rainbows, etc. After you have your faith on, you can pray a sinner's prayer to be a born-again Christian. This prayer is very important and should be said with a sincere heart and faith in God. This is the prayer: "Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and that Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for our sins. I have done the following sins (state these out) and I pray to discontinue these sins. I pray to receive Jesus Christ into my life as my Lord and Savior forever. In Jesus' name, amen. " I'm Lutheran and I like the Baptist churches too. You could try out a Christian church and also see about their weekly Bible study group to learn about God's will for your life. You can pray to God about your daily life. |

The best advice I can give you personally is "forgiveness ". The more you focus on love without conditions attached, there is less and less fear. That is what addictions use to manipulate you is your fear. So if you can forgive and pray and focus on healing, as many times as it takes, no matter what happens, you can break the cycle. Get rid of all negative thoughts, feelings or perceptions of the past, forgive and pray to release any and all memories that these negative energies attach to, and there will be nothing left but positive healing energy flowing through you which pushes out anything negative or false or fearful. Please call and ask for help, shamelessly, from any and all ministries or recovery groups you can get in touch with, and you will find the right people to support you on your way. It may not be smooth or perfect, but if you forgive and let go each time, you will make it. (Some resources are listed below. NOTE: since physical addiction and chemical issues are involved here, I also recommend getting medical assistance and assessment to make sure all traces of drugs get out of his system. The ministries I recommend below work WITH doctors so that the spirit mind AND body are all treated as equally important and no part is neglected. This is VERY important to work with BOTH medical doctors for the brain and body, psychologists/ psychiatrists for the mind and personal relations, and spiritual ministers and counselors for the spirit and understanding.) Bless you both, Yours truly, Emily My friend Olivia prayed for spiritual healing of a man and his whole family (starting with the sister who first asked to help her brother). The man on heroin got off his addiction in three days, with no withdrawal symptoms. He did not even believe the prayer would work; he tried to shoot heroin before and afterward, and both times the needle broke so he quit cold turkey. He was so grateful to be free, and without any fear of relapse or withdrawal, he started his own outreach to help others to break free. She can pray and help your whole family, as she has done this for many people. She does not charge money, just helps anyone who calls. Her number is posted publicly at houstonprogressive.org/ nothanku.html You can also contact Christian Healing Ministries online at christianhealingmin.org and email a prayer request anonymously. These two groups do not charge money and are the most effective support I have found. If you want to understand how the healing and deliverance prayer works, and what steps to take if prayer fails, I recommend the book "HEALING " by Francis and Judith MacNutt, edition 1999 or later (silver cover). When you understand generational addictions or curses and how to break them, you no longer live in fear that these can come back or control you. It is very liberating, and both the Buddhists and Christians teach how to break the cycle of past sin or karma, so I recommend both meditation and prayer to understand the whole truth behind the spiritual process of addiction and recovery. Best wishes and support to you both, Emily |
