Question: Grease fire or meth lab?

Last weekend, i left on a road trip with a few of my girlfriends on a roadtrip, only to realize when i arrived home, that my husband had set my oven on fire completely destroying the vent hood above, and leaving burn marks on the cupboards above, due to what he said to be a grease fire. By the time I had time to inspect the damage, he replaced the vent hood, but the burn marks still remain on the surrounding cupboard. My husband is a recovering drug addict, with meth being his drug of choice. Is there any way I can know for sure that it was a grease fire, and not a drug cooking gone bad? yeahh said he was cooking french fries.

Wow, sounds like meth to me. Did you ask him what he was cooking to have so much grease? Did he give you many details about what happened? You should ask him to explain exactly what happened, and then the next day ask again and see if the stories match - classic police technique. Either way make sure you let him know you are there to help him kick his habit.

Well, I wouldn't rely on any answers given through this system, based on the scarcity of the information you provided. I will, however, note that statistically, meth is one of, if not the single most difficult drugs to stop using.

If he has slipped (started using agin) it will become evident in time. Addicts can only hide that kind of crap for so long,.... what does he do to aid his recovery? does he go to na/ aa meetings? see a shrink? if his behavior changes drastically-you have strong indicators that he is in trouble,....

There's no way you can tell for sure. grease fires can cause the damage you say there is. Meth will blow up and destroy the entire house.
