Question: What does a meth lab smell like?

I live in a rural neighborhood where the homes are on 5 acre lots . I noticed a sweet, sickening, pungent and burning electrical wire smell a little after 12 at night. Smell was so strong had to close my window. I have smelled this before, only at night.Could they be cooking meth? and possibly outdoors as the smell is so strong? 10 hours ago - 4 days left to answer.

From what I understand it smells like amonia, not sweet.

It is probably far more likely that someone accidentally (or purposefully) burnt something they shouldn't have. I remember having the neighbors banging on my door after I accidentally burnt a plastic food container - and I agree with them, it smelled absoloutly awful .

It smells like a bunch of chemicals because that's what it is. Nobody is going to cook it outside either. They are trying not to get busted.

Sounds like it is meth the way you describe it. I had a meth lab next door once and it smelled the same way. Call the police out to have a look, but first talk with them and describe how it smells. I could be wrong, but it sounds like a meth lab to me,

I thought it smelled a bit like amnonia, but I sure would like to find what it is were I you. What you describe sounds more like bodies being disposed of in an electric chair.

That is not a meth smell. It smells like chemicals. It is a sweet smell but, it doesn't smell like burning electrical wires. Tweekers or Meth Heads usually cover up windows, doors, or anywhere the smell can leak out so you don't smell it. I would contact the police. They should know what it smells like (they are trained for these things). If you do have a meth lab in your neighborhood you will see lots of different people coming and going from that house.
