More specifically, the effects of meth even AFTER the user that quit for about 8 months, but used the drug for 10 years consistently. Personal experience, not just textbook answers would be great too... I'm asking ABOUT someone so I don't have a clue about this ish**. Thanks!! Might be good to note that the meth use started in adolescence and until early this year... :- ( Is there any medication or therapy that would help if there are any manifestations of long- term abuse? Meth support groups that are NOT narc- anon?

Loss of teeth, general health, maybe skin scars, loss of job, loss of family, guilt, loss of home, no trust from those around them, poor self esteem, sometimes delusional thinking after ten years would be semi-permanent but not always. People who know they used will assume anytime they show any energy toward accomplishing something they are back on. There are people who go on to rebuild their lives, go to school, get good jobs. Horrible drug, glad they quit. Probably now they want to put that part of their life way behind them. Quitting was the first step. Great for them. They're on their way to regaining their life, rebuilding relationships. Happier times ahead.

Long-term effects can include chronic fatigue, paranoid or delusional thinking, hallucinations and mood disorders. I had a friend who used meth for a long time and is extremely paranoid to the point where our friendship ended due to his paranoia and mood swings.

Early death. We only have so many heartbeats in our heart. If you take drugs and the heart speeds up for a period of time it wears the heart muscle out early.

Coming from a family of "tweakers " and being one myself, there will be a lot of mental problems. If someone is doing meth long enough they develop a different type of lifestyle and it may be very hard for them to break that lifestyle. NA would be the best support group for them to go. They can talk about their experience with others and find friends and a lot of support from others in the same boat as them.
