Http:/ / en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ Phentermine As you can see, Phentermine most certainly IS an amphetamine. In an incredible act of idiocy on the part of the FDA, they consider it to be safe and effective. That is a bald faced lie. What is true is that ALL amphetamines, regardless of application, cause both addiction and serious health problems. This has been going on since they were first discovered and every few years another "safe and effective " amphetamine treatment shows up followed by the same old problems. For example, Ritalin (another amphetamine....same drug basically, different name and application) is now coming out to be a major street drug with widespread addiction problems. All those kids misdiagnosed with ADD are turning into addicts and the DEA is getting involved. Soon, that treatment will be severely restricted. Basically, medical amphetamine abuse follows this pattern. Amphetamine is marketed in a slightly different chemical form (although it really is the same drug). It's given a new name and applied to some random disease/ disorder that it really doesn't do much for. Then, there is widespread addiction and major health problems all over the place as people either seek it out for recreational use or people with legitimate medical problems naively use it for help with it, get addicted, and just to add insult to injury, get little treatment effect (for example, Phentermine causes, on average, about 5 pounds of weight loss over a year's time....a statistically significant treatment effect...but one most people would not be satisfied with). Anyway, the feds notice all the addiction going on and reclassify the drug, putting severe restrictions on its use. The process then repeats itself. Don't be a victim of this scam. Phentermine is AMPHETAMINE, with all the nastiness that implies. It most certainly WILL cause your drug test to be positive and you need to tell the person taking the sample that and show him your prescription. You may be asked by your employer to stop taking the drug and fired if you refuse. The reason is all the problems they've had from people in the past. Drug use is drug use, no matter how you rationalize it. |
