Methamphetamines

Question: What are the long term effects of hydrocodone, xanax, and methamphetamines on the brain?

I'm proud to say I have overcome a huge addiction on my own and have been clean for 2 years and going back to school in Feb. On the down side though, certain things such as my memory seems a little worse. Now I have the tendency to over think everything and mess up things that should be simple. Most of the time I have this big lack of confidence with spurts of huge confidence in which beforehand, I had better concentration and self esteem. Also just seems my overall thought process isn't like it used to be. Could this be a result of the chemical cocktails, or just something that occurs with age? Is this common in former addicts?

First off i would like to say congratulations. Ive heard that it damages the brain and ive heard cases of schizophrenia from methamphetamines. Good luck with schooling and life.

Im a drug addict myself .I have been using since I was 14 and Im 46 now.I did get hooked on meth in my early 20s.I went into treatment and did stop for about 5 years.I don't have a very good short term memory.I got back on speed in my early 30s and I have always smoked weed.Weed is what I like the most .I had a boyfriend 96 me into treatment again .I had to go there or go to jail.I did 39 days the last time.Over the years I got hit and I got my back messed up.Im on hydrocodone,xanax ,soma for neck nerve and back pain.I want to tell you Im happy for you for being clean.Im sorry I should have said that from the start.I want to tell you about my sisters only son .First off my sister had stage 4 breast cancer.We were told from the first that it could be treated but not cured.This was very hard on my family.Ok her son was a meth cook .This was about 1999 or 2000.He did this stuff for about 5 years.I want you to look up this name.I will give it to you in a few .I do know in some ways Im burned out from using for most of my life.But I do know their is hope .I dont use speed at all and I hate it.I live in a small town in southeast Mo . We have a big problem with Meth here.I have lost a lot of my friends because of it.But I have not used it for years .If you will look up my sisters son on yahoo and read him story you will understand where Im going with this.His name is Joshua Palmer Meth.It should pull him up.Maybe like 4 or 5 places on the net.I do think you can get back to good.He did!!
